Application
For bonding mirror mosaics, e.g. in shower enclosures (mirror bonding) and for mounting decorative mirrors on various substrates: glaze, glass, plaster, concrete, OSB, in metal, wooden or plastic frames, for mounting mirrors on substrates subject to vibration and stress, for bonding mirror edges and for mounting glass elements.
Substrate preparation
The surface to which silicone is to be applied should be clean, free from dust, dirt, grease, rust and other substances that impair adhesion. Surfaces to be bonded (e.g. glass, glazed surfaces, wood) should be degreased with alcohol, petrol or other solvents. Rusted steel surfaces should be cleaned with a wire brush and oxidised metals (e.g. copper, lead) should be ground down and protected against corrosion.
Product preparation
Place the applicator on the substrate, cut at an angle to a width suitable for the joint to be made. The silicone is suitable for application by hand or pneumatic gun.
Further information
Silicone mirror adhesive can be used for bonding all types of mirrors with the exception of mirrors made of water-based lacquer. SILIKON NO11 Neutral is designed for this type of mirror. More information can be found in the appendix.
